If you love winter wonderlands then why not get married amid shining icicles and glittering snow? Cold weather is no reason to call off your big day, you just need to adjust your theme for a sparkling snow and ice winter wedding!
One of the major benefits of a wintertime wedding is the reduced prices you are likely to see at venues and services, including caterers and restaurants. Most couples don’t think to get married during the winter so you can potentially get a great deal on your wedding arrangements. Winter is also a great time if you want to get married within a few months or weeks rather than spend ages planning, as it is usually easier to get the date you want.
Even if you don’t want to go for an obviously Christmas themed wedding, you can still make use of a wide variety of lovely winter colour schemes. Winter wedding flowers are of course a must. Blue eucalyptus, white roses and poinsettias all come in wintry colours, or you can go for a richer palette with red roses, holly sprigs and pinecones. Add some glittery fake snow, crystal wedding jewellery and some silver reception decorations and you will end up with a truly magical atmosphere.
For your bridal dress, an elegant white gown is a must. You can go with cap sleeves or longer sleeves, perhaps meshed, or stick with strapless wedding gown and accessorise with a cozy bridal wrap or bolero. Don’t forget to include complementing bridesmaid dresses and wraps or shawls as well.
Reception venues in colder weather normally rule out gardens or similar outdoor locations, but how about a lovely historical manor with glamorous wood panelling and chandeliers, plus of course a roaring fireplace! You can even arrive in a horse-drawn carriage to complete the traditional feel, but if snow is likely then make sure there are plenty of windows so your guests can admire the snowy surroundings.
Non-Christmas winter decoration is not as hard as it seems. Snowflakes are a universal symbol of winter and can be used almost everywhere as accents, or you can focus instead on colour for your theming and keep to subtle hues for a cooler blue wedding. If this isn’t to your taste, consider a more bold “ice queen” theme with white, glacier blue and silver accents. Make use of diamante (or real diamonds, if you can afford them!) for an icy crystal themed wedding and have your guests gasping with ice sculpture centrepieces or glass reception decorations.
Remember that a colder season doesn’t have to mean a lack of warmth on your happy day, so tap into the wonder of winter with the person you love and plan a wintry wedding as memorable as any summer day. Happy winter wedding planning!
